Speech Therapy

Speech Pathologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of communication, cognition, voice, and swallowing disorders. 


Pediatric Speech-Language Therapy 

Pediatric Speech-Language Therapy targets speech production, language, and social communication in order to increase cognition, communication and expression as well as to improve academic performance. This program addresses communicative, hearing, and/or swallowing disorders due to injury, disease, birth defects or developmental delays (such as autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Disability, and Down’s Syndrome), such as those listed below.


  • Expressive & Receptive Language
  • Articulation
  • Stuttering & Fluency
  • Pragmatic Language & Social Skills
  • Swallowing & Oral-Motor Skills
  • Reading & Writing
  • Apraxia of Speech
  • Auditory Processing


Adult Speech-Language Therapy 

Adult Speech-Language Therapy provides evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic intervention for adults with speech and language impairments acquired in adulthood. These typically result from brain injuries due to stroke, trauma, tumors, or progressive neurological diseases (for example, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer's dementia, ALS, and primary progressive aphasia), such as listed below.


  • Dysphagia or difficulty in swallowing
  • Aphasia and other communication disorders
  • Cognitive-communication disorders
  • Voice Disorders
  • Need for augmentative communication


Depending on the patient’s initial evaluation and assessment, our Speech-Language Pathologists may recommend the following services:


  • Patient/family education
  • Speech therapy including oral motor exercises, articulation exercises, voice analysis/training, and fluency exercises
  • Cognitive linguistic therapy including receptive language exercises, expressive language exercises, auditory processing exercises, memory restoration/compensation exercises, reading exercises, writing exercises, math/reasoning exercises, executive function, aphasia training, and alternative modes of communication therapy
  • Dysphagia management/training, thermal stimulation, and referral for videofluoroscopy or fiberoptic endoscopic examination of swallowing (FEES)
